The Toronto Symphony Orchestra is kicking off this season’s Young People’s Concerts on Saturday. Each season boasts five one-hour-long concerts aimed at children aged 5 to 12. Colum and I attended their last concert in May and it was entirely memorable and worthwhile. We’ve been given media passes to attend this weekend as well and are bringing a couple cousins along for some age appropriate feedback.
Why wait for me to tell you how it went, though? From the press release:
3:00pm – Curl up on the lobby carpet for an intimate pre-concert lobby performance with TSO Principal Harp Julie Spring as she explores the magical sounds of the harp.
3:30pm – In the TSO Young People’s Concert, The Listener, a bugle-playing mime and a tap dancing ballerina are two zany characters who bring “the art of listening” to life. Listen live to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra performing electrifying music, including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and John Williams’ Star Wars.
(There’s also a 1:30 show. Buy tickets here.)
