Wednesday, March 3 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at Spadina & Bremner, Toronto.
Why do all the families move to the suburbs? At least part of the problem is a serious lack of family-friendly housing in our downtown. Developers would rather build more teensy condo units that they can sell to singles or couples than fewer three or four bedroom units that can accomodate a family.
But how are we going to curb suburban sprawl and traffic pollution if we can’t accomadate everyone who wants to live in our fair city? I think families are important to our city and so does city councillor Adam Vaughan. His office staff, in conjunction with City staff and the development industry, is hosting focus groups for families who would like to stay downtown. Help figure out how our city can better accomodate families like yours.
From the Facebook event listing:
The development industry asked the Committee to defer a decision on the Official Plan Amendment to allow for further consultation and changes.
As part of this consultation process, my office, City staff and the development industry are hosting focus groups with residents who are interested in family housing in the downtown.
The discussion will be about what kinds of changes may be needed to make condominium units work better as a viable option for families.
There are two sessions:
12:00pm to 2:00pm and
7:00pm to 9:00pmIF YOU WANT TO ATTEND:
