My review sample of a Neatfreak Everfresh Single Fashion Laundry Tote arrived the week before we took possession of our new house. That’s the house that had been marinating in cigarette smoke and cat pee for years; the house that had multiple layers of vinyl tile covering perfectly good hardwood on the second floor and the grossest kitchen ever to be ripped out of a will-be-someday bedroom and a brand new one installed on the main floor, just in case you’re new here. So, how exactly does one review a laundry bag? I had an idea.
I hung up the tote in our closet and everyday, when my husband came home from working on the house for 10 to 12 hours, threw his socks and t-shirts in it. Then I forgot about it, literally. After renovating the house for 3 weeks, we moved into it and, somehow, the bag got moved with us. Then today, six weeks after we moved, I found it.
Now I don’t know from bacteria-fighting enzymes, but I do know that when I started emptying the contents of this bag into the washing machine I expected to be knocked out cold from the smell. But it wasn’t too bad. And once the bag was emptied, I stuck my face in it and sniffed. Nothing. No odor whatsoever. Wow.
The company boasts green cred, too, claiming that their antimicrobial process is completely natural, organic and non-toxic. Oh, and isn’t the chocolate brown colour is quite fetching? I would have loved something like this back in my tiny bachelor apartment when I had to schlep all my clothes down to the basement for laundering. Neatfreak makes all kinds of hampers, though, and I may very well pick up a more family-friendly version in the very near future. You can buy Neatfreak products almost everywhere according to their website.
