Easter means,
Winter’s last snow, more times than not, and coughs and colds and sniffles.
New running shoes and spring jackets and rolling up my sleeves for a good spring clean.
Fish and chips on Good Friday.
Lots and lots of chocolate.
Bunnies. Spring chicks and ducklings, too, but mostly bunnies.
Big eyes and bigger smiles and laughter, waking up to baskets full of goodies.
Painted eggs and chocolate eggs. And an egg hunt, too.
Family and sometimes church but definitely feasting.
Rebirth and fresh beginnings and second chances.
Easter means all this and more. Children add chaos and muck, tantrums and tears to every holiday. Through them we re-visit the wonders of our childhood and both our traditions and their lives are forever enriched.
